‘Toen wij uit Nederland vertrokken’. is a compilation of experiences of Dutch emigrants in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil, South Africa and France. It is translated and edited by Nelly Schouw-Zaat and Jan-Willem Elferink and published by Profiel in Bedum in 1994.

The book is based on a series of radio programs by the same name that were broadcasted by the NCRV in 1993. The book contains interviews with emigrants who left the Netherlands after World War II for various reasons, such as economic opportunities, adventure, love or political ideals.
