Kolenberg was Senior Curator of Australian Prints, Drawings and Watercolours at the Art Gallery of NSW from 1989 to 2012.
Roofscapes represents a continuation of a decades-long obsession for Hendrik Kolenberg, the obsession of moving about, looking, and drawing/painting that which he sees. It is an obsession that began in 1973 in London and has continued throughout his more than 20 years in Sydney. It follows him in his travels as well, as can be seen in some of the works that capture roofscapes from streets in Paris, Eindhoven and The Hague.
