David Schrandt, born in Breda, the Netherlands in 1946, is a prominent figure in Western Australian football, known for his contributions both on and off the field. After emigrating to Australia, he grew up in Perth and began his football career as a goalkeeper, later transitioning to a striker. He played for clubs such as Morley Windmills and East Fremantle Tricolore, and was a founding member and later president of Canning Corinthians.

In the administrative realm, Schrandt played a significant role in the evolution of football governance in Western Australia. He served as president of the Professional Soccer Federation in 1994–95, and later led Soccer West Coast until 2003. His leadership was instrumental during a period of restructuring and development within the sport’s local administration.

David died of leukemia in 2007, his contributions have been recognised through his induction into the Football Hall of Fame Western Australia in 2008, under the Hall of Recognition category.

The David Schrandt Administrator and Volunteer of the Year Award is presented annually at the Football West Awards Night. This accolade recognises outstanding contributions by administrators and volunteers within the Western Australian football community.

His journey from a Dutch migrant to a key player and administrator in Western Australian football exemplifies the significant impact of the Dutch-Australian community on the sport’s development in the region.
