The Dutch Courier was first launched in Victoria in 1970 by Max Leening on behalf of the Associated Netherlands Societies. Its goal was to unite various Dutch clubs across the region through a publication that served as an extended newsletter.
Originally a Victorian-based Dutch newsletter, the Dutch Courier has since expanded into a national newspaper that not only connects Dutch clubs and organisations but also covers general news, features on the Dutch community in Australia, historical articles, language topics, and even sports. In 1985 the publication changed its name to ‘Dutch Courier’.
After over a decade of exceptional work, Cor Lefel passed on editorship of the Courier to Carole Overmaat in 2018. Carole, well-known in Melbourne for her Dutch TV productions on Channel 31, now oversees the paper. The Courier is available in print and online subscriptions.
