Leijn Janse (b. Nieuw- en St-Joosland, 29-1-1914 – † Barneveld, 12-10-1991) was a Dutch author who wrote under various pseudonyms such as J. de Lange, L.J. Nijland, and Leo Polderman. He worked as a teacher in several places including Herkingen, Ederveen, Meeuwen, Uddel, Middelharnis, Meeuwen, and ‘s-Gravenpolder.
In the early 1950s, Janse started a children’s newspaper called “Kinderkrant,” which was published by the printing company Centrum in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. The first issue of Kinderkrant was released on April 1, 1950. In 1953, the magazine merged with “De Kleine Gids.”
One of Janse’s works is “Zes weken op de boot” (Six weeks on the boat). The book tells the story of the Verhoef family who emigrate to Australia. They embark on a long journey by boat and encounter various adventures along the way.
“Zes weken op de boot” was published by Uitgeverij van den Berg in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht in 1980. The first edition of the book was 72 pages long.
