The following information is sourced from Monument Australia.
The National Australia Remembers Freedom Wall commemorates the “sacrifice of a generation” that have resulted in 50 years of peace in the Pacific since World War Two, and honours the servicemen and servicewomen who died in service or were killed in action, and also those who brought freedom to Australia, including workers on the land and organisations such as the Red Cross.
The Freedom Wall consists of two long walls which intersect with a circular wall on which 16000 plaques are mounted. The plaques were placed by family, friends and community members to remember lost loved ones.
The memorial features as its centrepiece a depiction of a 1945 photo of ex-prisoner of war Private P. Walsh being reunited with his family.

The following photos have been kindly provided by Peter Rasey. Due to his limited knowledge of the Dutch language, Rasey believes there may be more Dutch-connected tributes. This makes the National Australia Remembers Freedom Wall well worth a visit. The Wall is located in the Brisbane Botanical Gardens at Mt Coot-tha.
