Jordan Bos is a football/soccer player with connections to both Australia and the Netherlands. Bos was born in Melbourne on 29 October 2002 to parents Jacco and Sandra, who raised him and his younger brother Kasey in the city’s southwestern suburb of Point Cook. Today, Jordan Bos, who plays as a left back, has become one of Australian football’s brightest exports. He also has a strong connection to Dutch football.
Roots in Melbourne with Dutch heritage
Bos grew up playing junior football for Hoppers Crossing SC and signed his first professional football contract with Melbourne City FC, where he broke through as a first-team player in the 2021–22 A-League season. Although he is a homegrown Melbourne talent, Bos’ family history points towards Europe: his father is Dutch and played for SVZW Wierden in his home town (Bos’ parents met while Jacco Bos was backpacking in Australia).
From the A-League to the Eredivisie
After two Premiership-winning seasons with Melbourne City, in 2023 Bos moved to Belgian club KVC Westerlo. The transfer broke transfer records for an Australian player direct to an football club overseas. Two productive seasons in Belgium put him on the radar of clubs across Europe, and in July 2025 he completed a move that closed the loop on his family history: a transfer to Feyenoord in Rotterdam. Bos’ father Jacco is a longtime Feyenoord supporter, and there are photos of Jordan sporting the team’s red and white colours as a young boy in Melbourne.
The fit was immediate. Bos scored on his home debut against Sparta Rotterdam, produced a string of standout performances through his first campaign in the Eredivisie (Dutch national league), and in September 2025 he became the first Australian to win the Eredivisie Player of the Month award. Speaking in 2026, Bos revealed that being based in Belgium and the Netherlands had brought him closer to his father’s side of the family, even as the time difference with Australia and long-haul travel for Socceroos duty remain some of the tougher parts of his job.
Wearing the Green and Gold
Despite his Dutch heritage, Bos plays for Australia in international matches. He made his senior debut for Australia against Ecuador in March 2023 and has since become a first-choice fixture for the Socceroos, contributing to their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. At the tournament itself, Bos has drawn attention for his searing pace (he has been clocked among the fastest players at the 2026 World Cup) and for his versatility across the back line and wing-back positions.
Jordan Bos’ career to date traces a path from the suburban football pitches of Melbourne to one of the most storied clubs in Dutch football, and more recently to representing Australia on the world stage. By playing for clubs in both countries, Bos embodies the living connection between Australian and Dutch football culture, built on family history and realised through talent and hard work. He is further evidence of the longstanding connections between Australia, the Netherlands and football.
