Introduction

The Cornelis Uidam Collection brings together newspaper reports, official migration records, church publications, lectures, radio talks, photographs and family material documenting the life and work of the Reverend Cornelis ‘Cor’ Uidam (1924–2005). Uidam came to Sydney in 1960 to serve Dutch migrants, but his activities extended well beyond the church. The collection records his work in migrant welfare, his criticism of hostel conditions, his contribution to ecumenical and community organisations, his scholarship and broadcasting, and his long association with the Dutch Australian Cultural Centre. Together, the documents also provide a valuable record of the changing Dutch-Australian community from the 1950s to the early twenty-first century.

How to build the page

  • Use the sections below in chronological order. Place Major publications before Death and remembrance if you want them to stand out more strongly.
  • For each entry, display the date, archival title, source and description. The original filename is included here for your upload workflow but does not need to appear publicly.
  • Use ‘Feature’ items as visible highlights with a thumbnail or expanded description. Other included items can appear as compact text links.
  • Where several files form one record, create one public entry with multiple links rather than repeating the description.
  • Retain incidental and private items in the underlying collection, but do not crowd the public page with every passing reference to Uidam.
  • Add a source and rights statement to every scan. Availability through Trove or another archive does not automatically mean DACC owns the reproduction rights.
