The Nederlandse Vereniging Landverhuizing (Netherlands Association Emigration) was established in 1913 to promote Dutch emigration. It merged with the Emigration Centre Holland (Emigratie Centrale Holland) in 1931 and formed the Netherlands Emigration Foundation (Stichting Landverhuizing Nederland). The foundation was renamed the Dutch Emigration Service (Nederlandse Emigratiedienst) in 1952.
The foundation was dissolved in 1967 and its tasks were taken over by the Emigration Service Netherlands (Emigratie Dienst Nederland), which was part of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Public Health.
The Stichting Landverhuizing Nederland was reactivated after WWII, combating unemployment and overpopulation in the Netherlands as a result of the war.
Offices were established in various cities and provided services such as information, guidance, selection, training, transport and aftercare for emigrants. The foundation also issued publications and periodicals about different countries and aspects of emigration.

The book was published by the Staatsdrukkerij- en Uitgeverijbedrijf (State Printing and Publishing Company) in The Hague.
The book was intended to provide information about Australia for potential emigrants from the Netherlands, such as its geography, climate, history, culture, economy, education, health, social security, etc. The book also contained illustrations and maps.
