Taeke Cnossen 1961

Taeke Cnossen (Idzega, June 20, 1896 – Leeuwarden, January 12, 1988) was a Dutch journalist.

He was editor of the reformed Friesch Dagblad (1919-1921) and the anti-revolutionary daily De Standaard (1921-1943).

He was one of the co-founders of the Reformed Emigration Vereeniging (GEV), founded on November 23, 1927. After a reorganisation, the GEV continued on a broader Protestant-Christian basis as the Christian Emigration Centrale (CEC), from February 5, 1938. After the Second World War, the CEC would play a major role in guiding and organising the Dutch emigration, particularly to Canada, Australia and the United States, where many Reformed people migrated in percentage terms.

In September 1946 Cnossen became director of the Central Agricultural Emigration Foundation (CSLE), but he remained active within the CEC. We would prove to be an enthusiastic and flamboyant leader of this emigration centre until April 1965.
