The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne is presenting an exhibition dedicated to the work of seventeenth-century Dutch master Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. Rembrandt: True to life follows the work of Rembrandt from early work in Leiden through to his final years in Amsterdam, with more than 100 works from the NGV Collection, alongside important works loaned from the Rijksmuseum and others. Alongside the exhibition we will be hosting an evening event that we thought may be of interest to the Dutch communities. NGV Scholars Series: Recontextualising Rembrandt will happen Mon 31 Jul, 6.30pm – 7.30pm, at NGV International and broadcast live online. The event features world-leading Rembrandt scholar Dr Betsy Wieseman, Curator of Northern European Paintings at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. who joins us in Melbourne to provide an in-depth look at the scope of Rembrandt’s creative innovation. This event includes an opportunity to view the exhibition after-hours from 5.15–6.15pm. For those not in Melbourne, live broadcast tickets are also available to join the talk digitally. Bookings can be made here: https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/program/scholars-series-recontextualising-rembrandt/ |
