The DARWIN200 Global Voyage is a two-year voyage that will follow the route of Charles Darwin’s voyage on the HMS Beagle around the world. The voyage will take place from 2023 to 2025 and will visit 32 countries, including the Galapagos Islands, Tahiti, Australia, and South Africa.
The voyage is being organised by the DARWIN200 Foundation, a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people to become leaders in conservation. The Foundation is selecting 200 young people from around the world to participate in the voyage. These young people, known as the DARWIN Leaders, will conduct research on the environmental challenges facing their countries and develop projects to address these challenges.
The voyage started on 14 August 2023 when the 50-metre long, historic Dutch tall ship Oosterschelde. left Plymouth. It will reach Sydney in November 2024 and will visit Hobart before it will continue its trip to Cape Horn.
