Dutch dredging companies, engineers and workers have made an important contribution to Australia’s maritime and industrial development. This history encompasses the supply of Dutch-built machinery, the establishment of Australian subsidiaries, major port and reclamation projects, and the organised migration of skilled workers and their families.

Hendrik “Henk” Prins
Hendrik Prins was born in Sliedrecht on 30 January 1916, the son of Arie Prins (1893–1957) and Arina Elisabeth Bernhart (1893–1985). He married H. Visser, who was born on 20 March 1926.
Henk, his wife and their child travelled together on the KLM flight to Melbourne on 22 June 1950. The surviving seating plan records Henk in seat B1, their child in B2 and H. Visser in B3.
